So I’ve recently picked up watching a show…

called The Secret Life of the American Teenager.  It’s basically about teens having too much sex and getting pregnant and everyone having babies.  It’s great.

Normally, I don’t get upset enough about a character in a show that I’ll write about them.  You know I’ve seen a lot of Korean dramas.  Those girls are EVIL sometimes, and yet, I feel no need to rant about them via blog.  I usually just rant with a friend and it’s over with.  But this girl from Secret Life.  OMG, I want to bash her face in.  Multiple times.  And run it over with a car.  Then continue bashing.  This desire for violence may be due to the fact that I don’t have any to rant with regarding this show.  Perhaps.  But if you watched this show, you’d understand my rage.

Amy Juergens is the main character in the series.  Most of the series revolves around her and her early teen pregnancy, but the series’ storyline recently expanded to include more about other teens in series.  I understand that having a baby at such a young age is incredibly difficult.  It surely must be very taxing when you have the responsibility of a child, household chores, a job, and schoolwork.  I get it.  It sucks.  Amy, however, feels like she doesn’t need to fulfill all these duties.  Yes, I feel bad that you accidentally ended up with a baby, but now that you have, DEAL WITH IT.  Stop being a whining baby.  For example, once during her pregnancy she came down for breakfast and saw that her mom hadn’t made any.  Upon asking why, her mom simply explained to her that she needed to learn how to take on more responsibilities including preparing her own food because she’s going to have to learn how to take care of her son when he’s born.  She whines and whines about how she’s tired and asks why her mom can’t do it.  She’s 15.  I learned how to make my own breakfast by the time I was 8.  It’s not that hard, idiot.  Her mom voiced her opinion of wanting to get a job (since their dad left), and Amy whines about how she thought her mom was going to stay home and take care of the baby.  HER baby.  She wanted to throw that responsibility on her mother while she went to school, band practice, and out with her friends.  WTF.  I could go on forever about why this is wrong but you probably understand.

Example 2.  Her mom ends up getting pregnant because her dad (George) lied about getting a vasectomy.  Amy LOSES it, shouting things like “How could you do this?  How could you have a baby?  And you lecturing me about it?”  Not verbatim but that was the gist of it.  OBVIOUSLY, Amy, your mother is an ADULT.  She can have a baby if she wants to have a baby.  Even if it’s accidental, at least she has the means of support AND she actually has a somewhat stable partner that is able to help with support as well.  YOU, on the other hand, are a child.  You have no right to say that to your mom.  If you were in an Asian family, you would’ve been disowned and bitchslapped FOREVER.

Example 3.  Adrian ends up getting pregnant too, and Grace and Amy are supposed to throw her a baby shower.  As a person that is organizing the shower, Amy was supposed to be the one who came up with the guest list.  If she wanted to check with Adrian to see who else there was to bring (in case she left out someone), then fine.  But no.  She comes up with no list.  She makes no effort.  Of course, Adrian is hurt.  She ends up calling out to all the girls that Ricky (her ex that is now Amy’s bf.  Also the father of Amy’s baby)’s ever slept with to invite them to her baby shower.  It was a way to get back at all of them for being mean to her in the past—a way of rubbing it in their faces that she “won” in the end.  Amy, however, thinks it’s a ploy to embarrass her in front of everyone in the hallway because there were HELLA girls that stepped up.  She suddenly makes the situation about herself and whines and cries about it.

There are actually 3 billion other examples but they all come to this point: Amy needs to stop being a little bitch and stop thinking that EVERYTHING is about her because it’s not.  If you need a fucking glass of water, don’t call your dad from next door to get you a glass of water because your bitch ass is too lazy and “tired” to walk downstairs.  As for that last example (the most recent one I’ve seen), you need to go apologize to Adrian because YOU’RE in the wrong.  You were the one who’s helping to plan the baby shower, so that was YOUR responsibility.  If Adrian lashed out and embarrassed you, that’s your own fucking fault.  Don’t cry and whine and make the situation about you because in that case, it CLEARLY had nothing to do with you.  I’m glad Ben told her off and got kicked out of her house.  It was worth seeing that “OMG I’m such an innocent victim!” look on her face lol.

Okay I’m done.  Hurrah I feel better now.  If I was able to fast forward through all her scenes without missing out on key plot points, I would.  Trust me, I would.  Unfortunately, she is the main character so I’m stuck.  Sigh.
